The Oi Oi Oi Award
What is it:
The Oi Oi Oi Award recognises the overall excellence of design in a game. The award is judged on a game’s mechanics, playability, balance and fun. The game must have a clear and well presented theme, with an Australian subject. The purpose of this award is to promote healthy and polished game design, done with the intent to be published within Australia.
Participants will be asked to peer review a selection of submissions, of which the collective top 3 will be awarded prizes.
What you get:
1st Place: $100 AUD cash from the TGDA + $100 AUD ePrint Online voucher
2nd Place: $80 AUD ePrint Online voucher
3rd Place: $50 AUD ePrint Online voucher
You will earn a TGDA badge of honour that can be used to promote your game. You will also receive one of the above awards. Your game will be listed on the TGDA website as an award winner for the year that you entered, and can have a link to your game or company.
What exactly are you looking for?
The judges will be looking at the following:
- How the game that incorporates an Australian theme
- How well the mechanics integrate into the game
- The fun factor, how easy it is to teach and how easy it is to play
Who is the Judging panel?
This year, YOU be the judge! Participants will act as judges in a peer-review format, based on the above metrics.
Eligibility
In order to win you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Submit an unpublished game. This means it cannot be for sale. Games with successful crowdfunding campaigns are considered published
- To qualify as a finalist, you must complete all your peer reviews.
- Your video submission must be 5 minutes or less. Videos over 5 minutes are disqualified.

Criteria for the competition:
- Pay $15 per submission. TGDA members get 1 free submission.
- Create a video 5 minutes or less that contains:
- Brief description of the game / theme
- Description of the concept / mechanic
- Showing how it works
- Games Rulebook
- Sell sheet
- Filling out the appropriate competition form – button below.
If any of the above criteria are not met, this will disqualify you from the competition.
